第五屆國際研究生“當代中國”研討班

二十世紀60年代以來，優秀的西方中國研究專家中，不少都曾在中國研究服務中心訪問，從事文獻研究，撰寫他們的博士論文。來自不同國家、不同學科的研究生利用中心豐富的資料收藏，彼此交流，在此形成最富啟發性的研究環境。

香港中文大學中國研究服務中心及亞太漢學中心，於每年春季在香港中文大學舉辦“當代中國”研討班，讓當代中國學者發表論文及研討，並為與會者會期前後到中心查閱文獻提供協助。研討班旨在促進當代中國研究及中外年青學者結識、交流；提升中國研究博士學生的能力，拓展其視野。第五屆研討班訂於2009年1月7日至10日(4天) ^*。

宗旨

推廣當代中國研究；鼓勵國內外研究中國學者的交流；開闊及提高博士生的理念與眼界。

申請人資格及申請辦法：

以1949年以後的中國大陸社會為研究題目的博士研究生，不拘國家、地區。申請人須遞交以下材料到 uscconf@cuhk.edu.hk：

1. 申請表(見後) ；

2. 個人簡歷；

3. 導師推薦信；

4. 研討論文題目及摘要。

申請日期：

即日起至2008年8月25日。

費用及經費補助申請：

1．研討班不收取會議費用；提供會期午餐。

2.    校內住宿標準雙人間每晚港幣380元(若兩人同住，每張床位港幣190元)，單人房每日港幣320元；校內膳食每天約港幣70-90元(1美元 = 7.8港元)。

3.    中心將為參會者提供檔, 協助他們在自己的大學或者其他機構申請資金。 

4.    研討會提供有限的經費補助；需申請交通、住宿資助者，須通過第一輪甄選，然後按要求提出申請。

Fifth Annual Graduate Seminar on China

Introduction

Since the early 1960s, many China scholars have visited the Universities Service Centre for China Studies, conducting documentary research and writing their Ph.D. dissertations. Thanks to its rich collection and liberal platform for intellectual exchange, the Centre has evolved into a stimulating research environment for graduate students who have later gone on to become eminent scholars all over the world.

The Universities Service Centre for China Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and CUHK-Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Asia-Pacific Centre for Chinese Studies are the co-organizers of the annual Graduate Seminar on China (GSOC). The Fifth Annual GSOC will take place from January 7 to 10, 2009 (four days) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Centre also welcomes participants to stay at the Centre before and/or after the Seminar to conduct research and assistance will be provided. *

Objectives

The GSOC promotes research on contemporary China; Encourages exchange among Chinese and young overseas scholars in the field; And enhances the capability and broaden the horizon of Ph.D. students in contemporary China studies.

Eligibility and Procedure of Applicants

Ph.D candidates who are conducting social science research on post-1949 China are qualified to participate in the seminar on a self-financed basis. The applicants need to submit the following to uscconf@cuhk.edu.hk:

1.     An application form duly completed (see the attached);

2.     Resume;

3.     Recommendation from their supervisor;

4.     Title and abstract of research paper to be presented at GSOC.

Application and Deadline

Now until August 25, 2008

Costs and Financial Awards

1.    No fees will be charged for self financed participants; and lunch will be provided during the period of GSOC.

2.    Cost for on-campus accommodation, which is a standard double room, amounts to HK$380 (reducible to HK$190 when shared) per night. Costs for meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are estimated to range between HK$70 to $90 per day. The exchange rate is US$1 to HK$7.8.

3.     We will also be happy to provide the necessary documents to assist applicants in applying for

   financial help from their home universities or other sources.

4.    A limited amount of funding is available in each subject area. The details of financial awards application will be given to candidates after the first round of selection.
